FORMAN COMPLEX BUILDING 36 ADDRESS 911 POINCIANA DRIVE, FLORIDA 33025 IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $63,635 AWARDED TO DAGGER BUILDERS, INC.   THIS IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CITY PURSUANT TO SECTION 35.18(C)(8) OF THE PROCUREMENT CODE.

 

Summary Explanation and Background

 

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

1.  On September 10, 2017 Hurricane Irma damaged the roof of Building 36, The Site Management Building, located at the Howard C. Forman Complex.

 

2.  Three companies submitted quotes to repair the roof:

                         $105,650 David Bange Roofing

          $  93,500 Assured Contracting LLC

          $  63,635 Dagger Builders

 

3.  Section 35.18(C)(8) Best interest of the City states "Purchases of and contracts for commodities or services are exempt from this section when the City Commission declares by a simple majority affirmative vote that the process of competitive bidding and competitive proposals is not in the best interest of the city.  The City Commission shall make specific factual findings that support its determination, and such contract shall not be place on the Commission consent agenda."

 

4.  The City will be seeking reimbursement for cost of the roof through FEMA.

 

5.  Requesting Commission approval to proceed.

 

Item has been reviewed by the Commission Auditor and approved for the Agenda.
