PROPOSED RESOLUTION NO. 2026-R-04 IS A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES, FLORIDA; APPROVING THE TOWN HALL MEETING REQUEST COMMISSION POLICY ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT “A,” RELATED TO TOWN HALL MEETING REQUESTS BY ELECTED OFFICIALS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

1. The City Commission approved a motion for discussion and possible action to adopt a Commission policy regarding Town Hall meeting requests by elected officials at its meeting on March 4, 2026.

 

2. The City Attorney’s Office, following discussions at the March 4, 2026, meeting, prepared a resolution memorializing the discussion.

 

3. The proposed resolution adopts the City’s long-standing custom and practices for conducting Town Hall meetings.

 

4. Formally approving the Town Hall Meeting request policy helps ensure that the City protects the public’s right of access to their government and ensures transparency, fairness, and proper use of municipal resources.

 

5. Recommend City Commission adopt Proposed Resolution No. 2026-R-04 related to Town Hall meeting requests by elected officials.
