Title

MOTION TO APPROVE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES, FLORIDA AND THE CITY OF COOPER CITY, FLORIDA FOR THE RENTAL OF A BUCKET TRUCK TO PERFORM GENERAL MAINTENANCE WITHIN THE CITY OF COOPER CITY, FLORIDA.

Summary Explanation and Background

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

1. The City of Cooper City researched multiple options to resolve the inoperability of its bucket truck, given the budgetary constraints. Cooper City’s Commission approved the option to rent a Bucket Truck from the City of Pembroke Pines for no more than 30 nonconsecutive days per fiscal year in the amount not to exceed $1,300.00 per day. The daily rental fee will be increased annually on October 1st of each year, consistent with the Consumer Price Index for Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach Area.

2. City of Pembroke Pines currently owns one (1) Bucket Truck, which is utilized in the Public Services Department for various general maintenance that requires workers to safely work at elevated altitudes.

3. Renting a truck from the City will not have an impact on work productivity, as it will only be rented to the City of Cooper City if the vehicle is not being used by City of Pembroke Pines.

4. The Public Services Department recommends approval of this agreement with the City of Cooper City to support the neighboring municipality’s operational needs while providing a financial benefit to the City of Pembroke Pines (COPP). The rental of the bucket truck will provide the City of Cooper City with access to elevated areas for general public works activities requiring an aerial lift. Additionally, the rental revenue will help offset the Department’s repairs and maintenance (R&M) expenses.
