PROPOSED RESOLUTION NO. 2024-R-21 IS A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES, FLORIDA ADOPTING THE BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES CHARTER SCHOOLS SPONSORED BY THE SCHOOL BOARD OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA FOR THE CHARTER SCHOOL FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 2024 IN THE AMOUNT OF $70,750,479; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. Proposed Resolution No. 2024-R-21 is a resolution adopting the budget for the School Board of Broward County (SBBC) Sponsored City of Pembroke Pines Charter Elementary, Middle, and Academic Village Schools for the fiscal year July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025 (See Exhibit 1. 2024-R-21 PPCS Budget Resolution).
2. On June 3rd and 4th 2024, the Academic Village Advisory Board and the Elementary and Middle School Advisory Board unanimously approved with no recommendations the FY2024-2025 proposed balanced budget as presented to them by City Administration. (See Exhibit 3. Charter AVCS June 3, 2024 Meeting Summary and Exhibit 4. Charter Elementary Middle June 4, 2024 Meeting Summary).
3. The Charter Elementary School's total budget is $26,160,145.
4. The Charter Middle School's total budget is $17,179,871.
5. The Academic Village Charter School's (Middle and High School) total budget is $27,410,463.
6. The cost of lease payments, maintenance, transportation, food service, personnel, capital and operating expenses are all covered by total revenues from federal/state grants, state shared revenues, and other sources.
7. All State and local shared revenue projections are based on the proposed Education Bills approved during the 2024 Senate and House regular legislative sessions.
8. Recommend Commission adopt Proposed Resolution No. 2024-R-21 approving the budget for the City of Pembroke Pines Charter Schools sponsored by the School Board of Broward County, in the amount of $70,750,479 for school fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024.
