Title
MOTION TO APPROVE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES, FLORIDA AND THE CITY OF COOPER CITY, FLORIDA FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF THE FICUS HEDGE LOCATED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF SHERIDAN STREET BETWEEN CAPRICCIO’S PLAZA AND PASADENA PARK.
Summary Explanation and Background
SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. The Ficus hedge was originally placed and maintained by the City of Pembroke Pines for the benefit of the residents. However, through an annexation of the northwest corner of Sheridan Street and University Drive, the property was transferred to the City of Cooper City.
2. At that time, the Cooper City administration did not have a desire to maintain the hedges and wanted to remove them. However, residents of Pembroke Pines strongly supported the City maintaining the area as it provided a buffer between their residences and Cooper City.
3. The Cooper City commission passed an item to allow The City of Pembroke Pines to maintain the hedge, rather than removing it. The Public Services Department recommends approval of the agreement that allows the City to maintain the fiscus hedge located along Sheridan Street between Capriccio's Plaza and Pasadena Park.
