ORTIS ART GALLERY AND EXHIBITION HALL "THE FRANK" AND STUDIO 18 ART COMPLEX.
Summary Explanation and Background
SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. The Florida Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture has awarded a grant for fiscal year 2027 to the City of Pembroke Pines to build on our established program of year-round arts and cultural events and an arts-centric community engagement platform at the Charles F. Dodge City Center Cultural Arts Campus to include The Frank and Studio 18 Art Complex in the amount of $150,000.
2. The purpose of the grant is to support programming for exhibitions and workshops at The Frank and Studio 18 Art Complex. Events must be multi-disciplinary events that foster experimentation and creativity, invite collaboration and engagement, and inspire audiences to visit The Frank and Studio 18 Art Complex often.
3. The City received notification of the grant award from the State on August 4, 2026. As a condition of accepting the grant award, the State required the contract documents to be executed by the City and uploaded to the State’s website to avoid delaying the disbursement of grant funds. Because the agreement was required to be fully executed and uploaded prior to the next scheduled City Commission meeting, the City Manager executed the agreement on behalf of the City.
4. Request the Commission ratify the City Manager's approval of the agreement between the State of Florida Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture and the City of Pembroke Pines for a general support grant award in the amount of $150,000.
