Title

MOTION TO RATIFY THE CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL OF THE 75/25 MATCHING FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH STATE EMS GRANT (#M2541) IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,399.97/$799.99 TO BE USED FOR THE PURCHASE OF CPR TRAINING MANIKINS.

Summary Explanation and Background

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

1. The City of Pembroke Pines has been awarded a State EMS grant (#M2541) in the amount of $2,399.97 for the purchase of CPR training manikins.

2. The CPR training manikins represent a significant advancement in prehospital care, primarily designed for bystanders and non-medically trained people to perform emergency care in the face of cardiac arrests. As an innovative device designed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of resuscitation efforts, manikins hold the potential to significantly improve patient outcomes and survival rates both within our service area and outside our community borders.

3. The City's matching portion for this grant is $799.99 (25%).

4. The agreement was delivered near the State of Florida’s June 30th fiscal year deadline, and due to the City Commission not meeting in July, it could not be submitted for approval in time.

5. Withdrawal of awarded funds will constitute the City's agreement with the terms of the grant as written.

6. The agreement was approved as to legal form and the Fire Department recommends accepting the grant and the terms of the agreement.
