PRESENTATION NO. 2: RECOGNITION OF STUDENTS FROM ACADEMIC VILLAGE HIGH SCHOOL PARTICIPATING IN THE INAUGURAL 2025-2026 CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES ACADEMIC VILLAGE CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM.

Summary Explanation and Background

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

1. The City of Pembroke Pines launched its inaugural Academic Village High School Internship Program during the 2025-2026 school year in partnership with Academic Village High School. The program was established to provide students with meaningful exposure to municipal government operations and professional workplace experience.

2. The inaugural cohort consists of 28 junior and senior high school students who expressed an interest in career exploration and public service. Through collaboration between the City’s Human Resources Department, Academic Village Program Director Mr. Holland, and Principal Peter Bayer, students participated in a series of interactive professional development workshops focused on resume preparation, cover letter writing, interview techniques, professional social media presence, and job search strategies.

3. Following completion of the workshops, students formally applied for internship opportunities through the City’s online application system and participated in structured interviews conducted by City management staff. As a result of the selection process, 22 students were placed in internship assignments throughout various City departments, where they are currently gaining valuable hands-on experience and insight into municipal operations and public service careers through the conclusion of the program in June 2026.

4. Certificates of recognition will be presented in acknowledgment of the students’ participation and contributions to the City’s inaugural internship program.
