PROPOSED RESOLUTION NO. 2024-R-38 IS A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES, FLORIDA, DECLARING AND ACCEPTING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 5, 2024; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation and Background

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. A Special Election has been held in the City of Pembroke Pines, Florida, in accordance with the law on November 5, 2024 for the purpose of electing a Commissioner in Commission District 4.

2. The Broward County Canvassing Board has canvassed and certified the votes cast in said Special Election. The unofficial results, as published by the Broward County Department of Elections, are exhibited hereto and remain subject to the receipt of the official results due on November 18, 2024.

3. In accordance with Chapter 3.07 (a) of the City Charter, an organizational meeting shall be held at the first regular Commission meeting following the certification of the election results pursuant to the Florida election Code, as may be amended from time to time.

4. Further, at the organizational meeting, all newly elected officials shall take an oath of office and assume the duties of their office.
