SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

1. Broward College - Institute of Public Safety provides police academy training for all new police recruits within Broward County.  The Broward College Police Academy meets all basic training requirements of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.  Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to take the Criminal Justice Standards and Training State Officer Certification Examination.  Students must pass the Florida State Officer Certification Examination to qualify for Florida State Law Enforcement Certification, as prescribed in FSS Chapter 943.17(1).
