A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES, FLORIDA, ENDORSING THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE PEMBROKE ROAD PROTECTED SHARED USE PATH CONCEPT AND SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS OF THE BROWARD METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION'S ("MPO") TO PREPARE THE RECOMMENDED CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FOR FEDERAL FUNDING; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has requested that the City adopt a resolution endorsing the Pembroke Road Protected Shared Use Path Conceptual Plans from SW 145th Avenue to Flamingo Road in the City of Pembroke Pines as listed in the Broward Complete Streets Master Plan and approved on February 14th, 2019. This Resolution is requested to continue funding eligibility.
2. This is a joint project with the City of Miramar. The scope includes construction of a dedicated westbound right turn lane at SW 145th Ave, shared use paths on both the north and south sides of the roadway with a tactile tile delineation between pedestrians and bicyclists, high emphasis crosswalks for both pedestrians and bicyclists and an additional north/south crosswalk at SW 129th Ave.
3. Administration is requesting for the City Commission to deem it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Pembroke Pines to express support for the Pembroke Rd from SW 145 Ave to Flamingo Rd. project.
Item has been reviewed by the Commission Auditor and approved for the Agenda.
