MOTION TO APPROVE THE TENTH AMENDMENT TO THE TRUSTEE PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT WITH THE MIRAMAR-PEMBROKE PINES REGIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, INC. FOR AN EXPANSION FOR A RESTAURANT INITIATIVE PROGRAM IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $15,000.

Summary Explanation and Background

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

1. On February 12, 2026, the Mayor and Miramar-Pembroke Pines Regional Chamber of Commerce (the Chamber) organized a restaurant roundtable to discuss issues impacting the restaurant industry. This meeting followed recent public closures of establishments in the City.

2. Over 40 people were in attendance representing various parts of the industry including restaurant operators and managers, franchise owners and commercial property representatives.

3. Initially, there was an open forum, where participants were asked to discuss the issues impacting their businesses.

4. The participants were then broken into groups to identify solutions that could help the sector.

5. Then on April 7, 2026, the Chamber and the City discussed concepts to address some of the businesses issues.

6. The Chamber drafted the attached restaurant initiative program as part of an expansion of the City's current trustee agreement. The program includes a variety of education, marketing and campaigns targeting the industry.

7. The Chamber would begin implementing the proposed program immediately following approval. The cost of the program is $15,000.

8. Separately, Planning and Economic Development Department staff are drafting land development code and policy amendments to help the industry. Staff will introduce these conceptual changes later this summer.

9. Administration recommends approval of the expansion of the Trustee Agreement with the Chamber for the restaurant initiative program.
