PROPOSED RESOLUTION NO. 2025-R-41 IS A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE DISPLACED LEFT INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT CONCEPT AT THE PINES BOULEVARD AND FLAMINGO ROAD INTERSECTION WHICH IS REPLACING THE CENTER TURN OVERPASS CONCEPT PREVIOUSLY PRESENTED; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
A similar item went before Commission on September 4, 2024. The similar item contained a conceptual plan for an elevated Center Turn Overpass(CTO). The City Commission was not supportive of the CTO concept and requested the Florida Department of Transportation(FDOT) study alternatives. The alternative concept being presented is the Displaced Left Intersection(DLI) which is an at grade design with no roadway lane elevation.
1. The Florida Department of Transportation has requested that the City adopt a resolution expressing support for the Displaced Left Intersection(DLI) project in the City of Pembroke Pines. This resolution is required in order to further develop these concept plans.
2. Administration is requesting the City Commission to deem it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Pembroke Pines to express support for the Pines Boulevard at Flamingo Road Displaced Left Intersection Project.
