Title: MOTION TO ADOPT PROPOSED RESOLUTION 2023-R-46. Summary Explanation and Background

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

1.  The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has jurisdiction over SR-820/Pines Blvd and I-75 within the corporate limits of Pembroke Pines.

2.  The FDOT is undertaking an improvement project to Pines Blvd. from the I-75 North on-ramp to east of NW 118 Ave.  The improvements generally consist of repaving and restriping the existing roadway to extend the service life, improve rideability, and minor roadway widening.

3.  Pembroke Pines owns and operates water and sewer infrastructure within the project limits, and said infrastructure is located within FDOT’s right-of-way via permit from FDOT.  Conditions of the permit include that the City must relocate or adjust its infrastructure to accommodate the construction and finished road conditions, as required.  FDOT has identified 6 sewer manholes and 40 water/sewer valve boxes that will need to be adjusted to match the finished grade of the new pavement.

4.  Utilities Staff has reviewed the required work and concludes that it would be in the best interests of the City to have FDOT’s project contractor make the utility adjustments as part of their scope of work.  The alternative would be to have the City’s utilit...
