[ADDENDUM ITEM ADD-2]: MOTION TO APPROVE THE PROPOSED COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES AND THE BROWARD COUNTY POLICE BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION, INC. FOR THE TERM OCTOBER 1, 2022 TO SEPTEMBER 30, 2025.

Summary Explanation and Background

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

Covered Members - Police Officers and Sergeants (not including seasonal SRO’s, Captains, Majors, Assistant Chief, Chief or Reserve Officers).

Base Salary Merit Increase - 6.5% year one, 6.5% year two and 6.0% year three on October 1st of each year as long as a satisfactory or greater performance evaluation is provided to each member.

Increase Minimum Salary Of Pay Grade - increase of the minimum and maximum of each pay grade on October 1st of each year.

Assignment Pay - new for the following units (Threat Assessment Team, Full Time Officers Assigned As SRO’s, Dive Team, Community Affair Unit, and Internal Affairs Unit)

PBA Pool Time Bank - Members will contribute 1 hour of accrued vacation time to the PBA Pool Time Bank each Agreement year.

Juneteenth Holiday - added to the holiday listing for members.

Shift Pay - Change the Shift Pay to “evergreen” vs. "sun setting" as contained in the prior Agreement.

K9 Officer Pay - K9 Officers will now be scheduled for 8 ½ per shift and receive 51 minutes per day for compensation for the care of their assigned K9.

Longevity - Members will receive longevity pay based on their years of service as follows:

10 years of service - 2%

15 years of service - 4%

18 years of service - 5%

Language Changes - some minor changes/”clean-up” to various other articles contained in the Agreement.

Ratification Vote By PBA

The PBA membership ratified the proposed Agreement on December 5, 2023, with 186 for and 20 against.  Thus, the Agreement has been ratified by the Collective Bargaining Unit (PBA) and shall become valid once ratified by the City Commission.
