MOTION TO APPROVE THE CHARTER SCHOOL 2024-2025 SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLANS FOR THE PEMBROKE PINES ELEMENTARY, FSU ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, AND ACADEMIC VILLAGE CHARTER SCHOOLS; THE 2024-2025 PROACTIVE DISCIPLINE GUIDES FOR THE ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND FSU ELEMENTARY CHARTER SCHOOLS; THE 2024-2025 PARENT/STUDENT HANDBOOKS FOR THE ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, FSU ELEMENTARY AND ACADEMIC VILLAGE CHARTER SCHOOLS, INCLUDING THE DISCIPLINE MATRIX AND THE BROWARD SCHOOL DISTRICT CODE OF CONDUCT FOR THE ACADEMIC VILLAGE; THE 2024-25 PAEC PROFESSIONAL LEARNING CATALOG FOR FSU ELEMENTARY CHARTER SCHOOL; AND THE CHARTER SCHOOL WELLNESS POLICY FOR 2024-2025.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. As part of the annual audit conducted by the charter school district sponsors, the School Board of Broward County and Florida State University, the governing board (i.e., City Commission) must provide evidence of its approval of the School Improvement Plan (SIP). If changes are made to the District Code, the Parent Advisory Boards are required to approve the updated SIP. Additionally, the City Commission must give final approval to the Proactive Discipline Guides, the Parent/Student Handbooks, and the Wellness Policy for the charter school system, which includes the Charter Elementary, Middle, High Schools, and FSU Elementary School. City Commission must also approve the 2024-2025 Panhandle Area Educational Consortium (PAEC) Professional Learning Catalog, specific to FSU Elementary Charter School.
2. Since achieving high-performing charter school status, the Pembroke Pines Charter Schools are no longer required to complete a School Improvement Plan (SIP). However, as a best practice, the schools voluntarily continue to develop the SIP for all grade levels and seek feedback and approval from their respective Parent Advisory Boards.
