Summary Explanation and Background
SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. As part of the annual audit conducted by the charter school district sponsors, the School Board of Broward County and Florida State University, the governing board (i.e. City Commission) must provide evidence of its approval of the School Improvement Plan (SIP). If changes are made to the District Code, the Parent Advisory Boards are required to approve the updated SIP. Additionally, the City Commission must give final approval to the FSU Elementary Proactive Discipline Guides, the Parent/Student Handbooks, and the Charter School Wellness Policy for the charter school system, which includes the Charter Elementary, Middle, High Schools, and FSU Elementary School.
2. Since achieving high-performing charter school status, the Pembroke Pines Charter Schools are no longer required to complete a School Improvement Plan (SIP). However, as a best practice, the schools voluntarily continue to develop the SIP for all grade levels and seek feedback and approval from their respective Parent Advisory Boards.
