SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. CareerSource Broward Summer Youth Employment Program, in partnership with The Children's Services Council, is an eight week summer jobs program for Broward County youth, ages 16-18 years old. Participants in the program must meet eligibility criteria based on economic need, household size and income, among other factors.
2. The City of Pembroke Pines has participated in the Summer Youth Employment Program since 2015, and all of the youth employed through the program have resided within Pembroke Pines.
3. The Recreation and Cultural Arts Department has been asked to provide seven (7) positions for participants in our summer camp program as part-time Assistant Recreation Leaders. The cost of each youth worker will be $2,874.49. The total cost will not exceed $20,121.43.
This item has been reviewed by the Commission Auditor and approved for the Agenda.
