SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. The Pembroke Pines Charter Schools implemented the Cambridge Program at the Academic Village Charter School (AVCS) beginning in the 2014-2015 school year to provide students with additional opportunities to pursue an advanced curriculum and earn college credits.
2. Part of the program requires testing at the end of the year to monitor mastery, to confer college credit, and grant the Cambridge Diploma.
3. The pricing for the testing materials are established as part of the Cambridge International Examinations Fees list for the 2016-2017 school year, see attached "Exhibit 1". In the current school year, the AVCS administered two levels of exams - AS and A level. In addition, there is a separate exam for the Global Perspectives AS course and a separate exam for the Global Perspectives A2 course, both of which have higher fees. There is also an additional fee incurred for students earning an AICE Diploma.
4. The fee for the AS level test was $89.90 per subject in which 746 tests were given for a total of
$67,065.40. The second test, the A level, has a charge of $137.58. Fifty-four exams were given at this level for a total cost of $7,429.32. The Global Perspectives AS exam has a fee of $160.31 and there were 72 students taking this exam for a total of $11,542.32. The Global Perspectives A2 exam has a fee of $121.82 and there were 2 students taking this exam for a total of $243.64. This year there were 25 Cambridge Diploma candidates and the diplomas were $103.19 each for a total cost of $2,579.75. The grand total for all of these materials was $88,860.43, see attached invoice "Exhibit 2".
