Summary Explanation and Background

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

1.  On June 6, 2018, the City Commission approved the purchase and installation of LVT flooring in various areas of the Pembroke Pines charter schools from Mohawk Carpet Distribution, Inc., in the amount of $166,511.10 utilizing the State of Florida Alternate Contract Source # 52100000-16-ACS via the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) Contract # 121715-MAC.

2.  On July 25, 2018, the City Manager approved the increase to the purchase order to  Mohawk Carpet Distribution in the amount of $27,108.81.  Not included at the time of the Commission approval was the quote to redo the floors at the FSU Elementary Charter School cafeteria.  In order to complete the job during the summer break, the Public Services Department requested the City Manager's approval to increase the original purchase order.  

3.   Per Section 35.18(C)(1) of the City's Procurement Code; "In urgent cases of compelling emergency that require the immediate purchase of commodities or services, the City Manager is empowered to waive competitive bidding or competitive proposals and authorize the Chief Procurement Officer to secure by open market procedure any commodities or services, notwithstanding the estimated cost of the commodities or services."

4.  Request Commission to ratify the City Manager's approval of of the increase to the purchase order for the purchase and installation of LVT flooring in various areas of the Pembroke Pines Charter Schools with Mohawk Carpet Distribution, Inc. in the amount of $27,108.81.
