PROPOSED RESOLUTION 2018-R-35 IS A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE SECOND AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT BETWEEN BROWARD COUNTY AND THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES PROVIDING FOR DISBUSEMENT OF HOME PROGRAM FUNDS FOR HOUSING REHABILITATOIN PROGRAM - MINOR HOME REPAIR PROGRAM FY 2015 FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $159,691; AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE THE SECOND AMENDMENT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

 

Summary Explanation and Background

 

1. The City is a recipient of HUD Home Investment Partnership (HOME) program funding as a member of the Broward County HOME Consortium. The City receives an annual allocation of federal HOME funding to address priority housing needs.

 

2. The proposed second amendment to the City's FY 2015 provides for a 12-month extension necessary to close out home repair projects allocated to this program year and obtain reimbursement from the County.  The proposed second amendment under consideration this evening will extend the program to September 30, 2019.

 

3. Broward County requires the City to amend the HOME agreement in order to permit the 12-month extension.

 

4. The City Commission approved the first amendment to this agreement at its August 2, 2017 meeting which extended the program to September 30, 2018.

 

5. No changes to the previously approved budget or scope of work are being proposed as part of this amendment.

6. Administration recommends approving proposed  resolution  2018-R-35.
