SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. This purchase is for annual Microsoft Net New Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES) for the City of Pembroke Pines, Florida Charter Schools.
2. EES is an easy, cost-effective licensing offer that provides academic institutions with assured coverage for desktop platform products with one annual employee count, the flexibility to add products in any quantity, and simplified asset management.
3. The State of Florida utilizes State Term Contract #43230000-15-02, “Licensing Solution Providers of Microsoft Software and Services”. This State Term Contract permits Eligible Users to purchase Microsoft software license (perpetual and subscription) agreements, under which the Microsoft Licensing Solutions Provider (LSP) has the authority to sell and manage software licenses and maintenance.
4. The State of Florida contract has numerous vendors that can be utilized for various products and services.
5. The Technology Services Department has identified and selected SHI International as the provider on the State Term Contract.
6. The Technology Services Department has utilized SHI International for various projects throughout the City and has been satisfied with their services.
7. The Technology Services Department has obtained a quote from SHI International via the State Term Contract utilized by the State of Florida, in an amount of $71,441.68.
8. Section 35.18(5) of the City's Procurement Procedures states; "Utilization of other governmental agencies' contracts. Commodities or services that are the subject of contracts with the state its political subdivisions or other governmental entities including the United States government, are exempt from this section, provided, however, that this division shall apply only if the contract expressly permits or if the awarding jurisdiction and/or the vendor agree to allow the city to purchase therefrom."
9. The Technology Services Department recommends the purchase of annual Microsoft Net New Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES) for City of Pembroke Pines Charter Schools from SHI International.
10. Request Commission to approve the purchase of annual Microsoft Net New Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES) for City of Pembroke Pines Charter Schools from SHI International in the amount of $71,441.68 utilizing Florida’s State Term Contract #43230000-15-02, “Licensing Solution Providers of Microsoft Software and Services”.
