SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. The Florida Humanities Council has awarded a grant for the period of July 1, 2019 through July 1, 2020, to the City of Pembroke Pines to create a "Pembroke Pines Historical Timeline and Exhibit" in the amount of $5,000.
2. The purpose of the grant is to support historical research and the creation of historical timeline panels pre-incorporation and post-incorporation of our City. This project is in collaboration with the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society.
3. The Recreation and Cultural Arts Department received notice of the award in July of 2019 and the agreement dates are July 1, 2019 - July 1, 2020. The Florida Humanities Council notified us of the award after the agreement date was set to begin and requested the agreement be executed prior to commencement of the project. Since the Commission was not scheduled to meet again until August 7th, the Department requested the City Manager sign the agreement prior to obtaining the City Commission approval.
4. Request the Commission ratify the City Manager's approval of the agreement between the State of Florida Humanities Council and The City of Pembroke Pines for a general support grant award in the amount of $5,000.
