MOTION TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF NETAPP CENTRALIZED STORAGE SOLUTION FROM PRESIDIO NETWORKED SOLUTIONS, INC., IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $136,841.16 UTILIZING THE STATE OF FLORIDA ALTERNATE CONTRACT # 43211500-WSCA-15-ACS VIA THE FLORIDA NASPO VALUEPOINT NETAPP MNWNC-121, PURSUANT TO SECTION 35.18(C)(5) OF THE CITY'S PROCUREMENT CODE.
Summary Explanation and Background
SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. The Technology Services Department would like to replace the existing NetApp storage system at the Pembroke Pines Charter Schools. The current NetApp storage system supporting all the Charter School campuses will be end of life (EOL) at the end of this year, and will no longer be supported by vendor. The new NetApp storage system will also provide much needed additional storage capacity for future growth and projects like VDI (Virtual Desktop).
2. The NetApp storage system provides centralized data storage to all City workstations, mobile devices and applications for public safety, utilities and other key departments through the existing City-wide fiber optic network. The NetApp storage system provides a collection of high performance disk drives that are organized into a single fault-tolerant and redundant system that can be logically partitioned and managed. Servers and workstations connect to this storage system through high-speed network interfaces. Logical drives are created on the NetApp and function as local disk drives to the City servers and workstations. This approach is commonly used in nearly all data centers to increase flexibility, improve performance and reliability while lowering costs and increasing efficiency.
3. The State of Florida contract has numerous vendors that can be utilized for various products and services.
4. The Technology Services Department has identified and selected Presidio Networked Solutions, Inc. as the provider on the State Contract.
5. The Technology Services Department has utilized Presidio Networked Solutions, Inc., for various projects throughout the City and has been satisfied with their services.
6. The Technology Services Department has obtained a quote from Presidio Networked Solutions, Inc., via the Alternate Contract Source utilized by the State of Florida, in an amount of $136,841.16.
7. Section 35.18(C)(5) of the City's Procurement Procedures states; "Utilization of other governmental agencies' contracts. Commodities or services that are the subject of contracts with the state its political subdivisions or other governmental entities including the United States government, are exempt from this section, provided, however, that this division shall apply only if the contract expressly permits or if the awarding jurisdiction and/or the vendor agree to allow the city to purchase therefrom and if either: (i) the commodities or services are the subject of a price schedule negotiated by the state or federal government or by competitive bid by another governmental agency and not on any preference; (ii) or the price offered for the commodity or service exactly equals or is lower than the governmental contract from vendors awarded the governmental contract. Where an award is made pursuant to this paragraph, the terms and conditions agreeable to the city may be used in lieu of those terms and conditions of the contract with other governmental agency".
8. Request Commission to approve the purchase of NETAPP centralized storage solution from Presidio Networked Solutions, Inc., in the amount not to exceed $136,841.16 utilizing the State of Florida Alternate Contract # 43211500-WSCA-15-ACS via the Florida NASPO Valuepoint NetApp # MNWNC-121, pursuant to section 35.18(C)(5) of the City's Procurement Code.
