Summary Explanation and Background

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

1. The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has requested that the City adopt a resolution expressing support for the approved list of priority projects in the City of Pembroke Pines.  This resolution is required in order for the projects to remain in the Cost Feasible Plan and establishes eligibility for programming this cycle.

2. Administration is requesting for the City Commission to deem it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Pembroke Pines to express support for the Widening Pines Boulevard (186th Avenue - US-27) Project in the Commitment 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP).

3. Project programming for this cycle is directly tied to MTP project rank and overall funding availability. The Broward MPO does not guarantee project programming. Broward MPO and/or FDOT may require an additional resolution of support once the project becomes a candidate for programming in order to demonstrate local commitment on the project delivery method and detailed scope of work for the project. Broward MPO staff will coordinate with its partners on a project-by-project basis with respect to this requirement.
