PROPOSED RESOLUTION 2019-R-31 IS A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE SW 196TH AVENUE PROJECT TO INCLUDE THE COMPLETION OF SW 196TH AVENUE FROM MIRAMAR PARKWAY TO PEMBROKE ROAD AND THE WIDENING OF SW 196TH AVENUE FROM PEMBROKE ROAD TO PINES BOULEVARD PROJECT CONTAINED IN BROWARD METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION’S COMMITMENT 2045 METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION PLAN COST FEASIBLE PLAN; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Summary Explanation and Background
SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has requested that the City adopt a resolution expressing support for the approved list of priority projects in the City of Pembroke Pines. This resolution is required in order for the projects to remain in the Cost Feasible Plan and establishes eligibility for programming this cycle.
2. Administration is requesting for the City Commission to deem it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Pembroke Pines to express support for the SW 196th Avenue (completion of SW 196th Avenue from Miramar Parkway to Pembroke Road and Widening SW 196th Avenue from Pembroke Road to Pines Boulevard) Project in the Commitment 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP).
3. Project programming for this cycle is directly tied to MTP project rank and overall funding availability. The Broward MPO does not guarantee project programming. Broward MPO and/or FDOT may require an additional resolution of support once the project becomes a candidate for programming in order to demonstrate local commitment on the project delivery method and detailed scope of work for the project. Broward MPO staff will coordinate with its partners on a project-by-project basis with respect to this requirement.
