Summary Explanation and Background

 

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

1.  General Motors has announced an anticipated order cutoff at the end of September for the 2020 Police Tahoe, and limited amounts will be manufactured with the Chevrolet planning for the next generation of the Tahoe and related platforms.

  

2.  Given this information, the Police Department would like to purchase twelve (12) 2020 Chevrolet Tahoes (CC15706/9C1) for the Patrol Division, and four (4) 2020 Chevrolet Tahoes 1500 Commercial (CC15706/1FL) for the Command Staff.

 

3.  The Police Department has identified twelve (12) vehicles that have already been sent to or marked for surplus, which includes one (1) vehicle which was declared a total loss after an accident.  The twelve (12) vehicles for the Patrol Division would be replacing the twelve (12) vehicles marked for surplus, and the four (4) vehicles for the Command Staff would be for new admin. positions created.

 

4.  Below is a list of the vehicles being requested by the Police Department:

 

Twelve (12) - 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe (CC15706/9C1) at a price of $32,877 each for a total cost of $394,524

Four (4) - 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe (CC15706/1FL) at a price of $38,174.25 each for a total cost of $152,697

 

5.  The Police Department would like to utilize the Florida Sheriffs Association's bid # FSA18-VEL26.0 to purchase the vehicles from Stingray Chevrolet and Alan Jay Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, as both vendors will be honoring the 2019 model year pricing for the 2020 models we will be purchasing.

 

6.  Pursuant to Section 35.18(C)(5) of the City’s Code of Ordinances, “Commodities or services that are the subject of contracts with the state its political subdivisions or other governmental entities including the United States Government, are exempt from the competitive procurement process.”

 

7.  Request Commission to approve the purchase of (12) twelve 2020 Chevrolet Tahoes (CC15706/9C1) from Stingray Chevrolet in an amount not to exceed $394,524, and (4) four 2020 Chevrolet Tahoes 1500 commercial (CC15706/1FL) from Alan Jay Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac in an amount not to exceed $152,697 utilizing the Florida Sheriffs Association's (FSA) BID # FSA18-VEL26.0, pursuant to section 35.18(C)(5).
