MOTION TO APPROVE THE AGREEMENT WITH ROOF PAINTING BY HARTZELL, INC., FOR THE PAINTING OF ACCELATOR D AND WATER STORAGE TANKS LOCATED AT THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT UTILIZING THE PRICING ESTABLISHED FROM THE TOWN OF JUPITER BID ITB #W1833 FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $207,814.90 PURSUANT TO SECTION 35.18(C)(5) OF THE CITY’S CODE OF ORDINANCES.
Summary Explanation and Background
SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. The Utilities Division is looking to media blast and recoat the interior and exterior of Accelator Unit D along with two (2) water storage tanks located at the City’s Water Treatment Plant due to deterioration, rust and paint peeling over time.
2. During recent preventative maintenance, the interior and exterior paint of Accelator Unit D was observed to be in a deteriorated state and has started to show rust on the unit.
3. The City has been notified from the recent Sanitary Survey conducted by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection that the spalling and peeling of paint on the water storage tanks represent a deficiency and needs to be addressed.
4. On December 18, 2018, the Town of Jupiter awarded Bid ITB #W1833 for Continuing Services Contract for Utilities Painting Maintenance to Roof Painting by Hartzell, Inc.
5. Pursuant to Section 35.18(C)(5) of the City’s Code of Ordinances, “Commodities or services that are the subject of contracts with the state its political subdivisions or other governmental entities including the United States Government, are exempt from the competitive procurement process.”
6. Roof Painting by Hartzell, Inc. has provided a quote for the media blasting and recoating of the interior and exterior of Accelator Unit D and two (2) Water Storage Tanks for a total cost not to exceed $207,814.90.
7. Roof Painting by Hartzell, Inc. has previous experience with painting of water storage tanks at different water treatment facilities per the attached Previous Project References Document.
8. Request City Commission to approve the agreement with Roof Painting by Hartzell, Inc. for the painting of Accelator D and Water Storage Tanks located at the Water Treatment Plant utilizing the pricing established from the Town of Jupiter Bid ITB #W1833 for an amount not to exceed $207,814.90 pursuant to Section 35.18(C)(5) of the City’s Code of Ordinances.
