SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. The Sun Sentinel has asked Pediment Publishing to publish a hard cover, heirloom quality book covering Broward County’s History from the 1800’s through the present. The project includes reaching out to the public to obtain historical photos from the private collections of the residents. Pediment Publishing has asked the City of Pembroke Pines to be a hosting location for a public photo scanning event, which is tentatively scheduled for October 9th at City Center. For this event, the Recreation and Cultural Arts will engage in a shared social media campaign to encourage our residents to contribute to the collection of photos for this book. The City will also submit photos from our historical collection. All photos collected for Pembroke Pines will be provided to the City's Cultural Arts Division to enhance the City's historical records. In addition the City will be receiving copies of the book.
2. Request approval for use of the city's logo by Pediment Publishing, in partnership with the Sun Sentinel, on all marketing and advertising materials for the production of a hardcover book on 125 years of Broward and Palm Beach County history in photographs.
