MOTION TO APPROVE THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN A LOVE FOR LANGUAGE, INC. AND THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES FOR SPEECH/ LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY SERVICES AT THE ACADEMIC VILLAGE CHARTER SCHOOL AND TO INCREASE THE ESTIMATED ANNUAL COSTS FOR FUTURE YEARS TO AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $26,000 PURSUANT TO SECTION 35.18(C)(2) OF THE CITY'S CODE OF ORDINANCES.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. The School Board of Broward County requires all schools to provide speech/ language pathology services to students.
2. On January 18, 2018, the City entered into an agreement with A Love for Language Inc. for an initial six (6) month period ending on June 30, 2018.
3. The City of Pembroke Pines Charter School Academic Village utilizes A Love for Language Inc. for Part Time Speech and Language Pathologist services.
4. On March 7, 2018 City Commission approved the professional services agreement between A Love for Language Inc. and the City of Pembroke Pines for speech/ language pathology services at the Academic Village Charter School (AVCS) for an additional two (2) year term, at a price of $50.00 per hour for an estimated annual amount of $20,000, with services commencing on July 1, 2018 and expiring on June 30, 2020.
5. For school year 2019-20, Academic Village school administration has projected an increased need for speech/pathology services based on the special needs of their 2019-20 student population. They have requested approval to utilize the speech/pathology services provided by A Love for Language Inc. for 13 hours per week for an estimated annual amount of $26,000.
