SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. Broward College - Institute of Public Safety provides Police Academy training for all new Police Recruits within Broward County. Broward College Police Academy meets all basic training requirements of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to take the Criminal Justice Standards and Training, State Officer Certification Examination. Students must pass the Florida State Officer Certification examination to qualify for Florida State Law Enforcement certification, as prescribed in Chapter 943.17(1), F.S.
2. Police Department has enrolled seven (7) new Police Recruits in the 328th Police Academy hosted by Broward College - Institute of Public Safety, which begins on October 14, 2019 and runs through April 8th, 2020.
3. The tuition cost per Police Recruit is $4,600.00, which includes $100.00 state exam fee and the Florida Criminal Justice Sourcebook by Lexis Nexis.

c) Source of funding for difference, if not fully budgeted: A budget adjustment will be required to transfer $10,720.00 from Account #133-521-3013-40100: Travel/Conferences. This budget adjustment will be processed in FY2020.
