In collaboration with eighteen (18) eligible law enforcement agencies in Broward County, the Police Department has been allocated $26,040 from the U.S. Department of Justice as its FY2019 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) share of the $501,886 allocated to Broward County. The Justice Assistance Grant funds may be used for any legitimate law enforcement projects, as defined by the Bureau of Justice Assistance. The funding allocation is determined by a formula that is based primarily upon the preceding year crime data reported to the F.B.I. and population trends.

The 2019 JAG MOU is not yet available, however it will be substantially similar to the 2017 JAG MOU. The City's net grant amount for actual program expenses is $23,436. Any interest earned for JAG award funds must be utilized for grant purposes, or returned to the Department of Justice at grant's end date.
