SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

1.  The City of Pembroke Pines Fire Department is requesting the authorization to purchase Fire Rescue Medical Supplies and Equipment for fiscal year 2019-2020 from:

2.  The Fire Department currently purchases the majority of their Fire Rescue Medical Supplies and Equipment from the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO).  The approval of this request will allow the Fire Department to purchase those items that BSO no longer carries, or for items which are out of stock.

 

3.  On June 1, 2018, Eagle County Paramedic Services, as lead agency for Savvik Buying Group, entered into a (3) year agreement with Henry Schein.

 

4.  On June 29, 2018, Eagle County Paramedic Services, as lead agency for Savvik Buying Group, entered into a (3) year agreement with Medline Industries, Inc. 

 

5.  On November 8, 2018,  Eagle County Paramedic Services, as lead agency for Public Safety Association Inc., entered into a (3) year agreement with Physio Control, Inc. (Stryker Corporation acquired Physio Control, Inc.)

 

6.  Pursuant to Section 35.18(C)(6) of the City's Code of Ordinances, "Cooperative purchasing plans are exempt from competitive bidding."

 

7.  Request Commission to approve the purchase of fire rescue medical supplies and equipment from Henry Schein for a total amount not to exceed $21,000, utilizing the Savvik Buying Group contract # 201801, from Medline Industries, Inc. for a total amount not to exceed $20,000, utilizing the Savvik Buying Group contract # 201801, and from Stryker Corporation (formerly Physio Control, Inc.) for a total amount not to exceed $8,000, utlizing the Public Safety Association Inc. contract # 2018-11 for fiscal year 2019-2020 per section 35.18(c)(6) of the City's Code of Ordinances.
