Summary Explanation and Background

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

1.  On May 1, 2019, the City Commission authorized the advertisement of PSEN-19-04 "Wastewater Treatment Plant West Blower Building Electrical Modification", which was advertised on May 7, 2019.

2.  The purpose of this solicitation was to solicit qualified firms to complete an electrical modification to the West Blower Building at the Wastewater Treatment Plant to accommodate two new 200HP air blowers.

3.  On July 23, 2019, the City opened two (2) proposals from the following vendors:

     Durham Electric, Inc.                            $50,250

     Juliana Enterprises, Inc.                      $55,950

4.  The Utilities Division has reviewed the proposals and has deemed Durham Electric, Inc. to be the most responsive/responsible proposer.

5.  In addition, Durham Electric, Inc. has also completed the Equal Benefits Certification Form and has stated that the "Contractor currently complies with the requirements of this section."

6.  The Utilities Division would like to add a 7% owner's contingency to the project to cover any additional services needed along with a 3% permit allowance which will increase the total cost from $50,250 to $55,275.

7.  Request Commission to award PSEN-19-04 "Wastewater Treatment Plant West Blower Building Electrical Modification" to the most responsive/responsible bidder, Durham Electric, Inc. in the amount of $55,275, which includes a 7% owner's contingency in the amount of $3,517.50 and a 3% permit allowance in the amount of $1,507.50.
