Summary Explanation and Background

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

1.  The current Agreement JA119-10-2019 between the City of Pembroke Pines/Southwest Focal Point Senior Center and the Areawide Council on Aging of Broward County, Inc. will expire December 31, 2019.

2.  On June 19, 2019 with Agenda #19-0682 the City of Pembroke Pines/Southwest Focal Point Senior Center submitted a proposal to the Areawide on Aging of Broward County, Inc. for the Older Americans Act Supportive Services Titles IIIB & IIIE for the Fiscal Year of January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2010 as the first year of a six-year cycle. 

3.  The proposal was awarded with Agreement JA120-10-2020 in an amount not to exceed $462,059.00 subject to the availability of funds.  $329,464.00 represents Federal Older Americans (OAA) Title IIIB funds, $43,867.00 represents Areawide Council on Aging (AAA) local matching funds for the Title IIIB.  $88,728.00 represents Federal OAA Title IIIE funds.  The City will contribute $95,285.00 as matching funds.

4.  The City of Pembroke Pines/Southwest Focal Point Senior Center has received the award of this contract.  The services provided under Titles IIIB & IIIE are:  Adult Day Care, Counseling Individual, Counseling Group, Public Education, Recreation, Homemaker, Personal Care, Respite and Caregiver Support Group.

5.  Requesting Commission approval of this agreement that represents continuation of services to our senior clientele.

Item has been reviewed by the Commission Auditor and approved for the Agenda.
