SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. The Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding (CESF) Program, authorized by Division B of H.R. 748, Pub. L. No. 116-136 (Emergency Appropriations for Coronavirus Health Response and Agency Operations); 28-U.S.C. 530C, has made grant funding available to units of local government through the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice assistance, for use in COVID19 response.
2. Funds under the Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding (CESF) Program must be utilized to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus. Allowable projects include, but are not limited to, overtime, equipment (including law enforcement and medical personal protective equipment), hiring, supplies (such as gloves, masks, sanitizer), training, travel expenses, and addressing the medical needs of inmates in state, local, and tribal prisons, jails, and detention centers.
3. The City’s allocation is $80,017. The deadline for the City to apply for it’s allocation, is May 29, 2020.
4. The program period is for a period of two years: January 20, 2020 - January 20, 2022.
