Title
MOTION TO APPROVE A RECIPROCAL USE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF BROWARD COUNTY FOR USE OF FACILITIES OWNED BY EACH ENTITY FOR A FIVE YEAR TERM COMMENCING ON AUGUST 24, 2020
Summary Explanation and Background
SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. The City of Pembroke Pines and the School Board of Broward County have had in place a reciprocal use agreement since 2005. The reciprocal agreement provides the proper documentation for both parties to utilize each others facilities as listed in the agreement. Without this agreement, each party would be required to provide proof of insurance and indemnification on a case by case basis. With the agreement, each party only has to request the use of the facility and obtain approval. The agreement eliminates the need for this continuing repetitive documentation. All rental fees are waived for both parties with the exception of fixed costs such as custodial and energy expenses when applicable.
2. The current agreement was approved by the City Commission on April 15, 2015 and expires on August 23, 2020
3. The term of the proposed agreement is for five years with an expiration of August 23, 2025.
4. The Recreation and Cultural Arts Department recommends approval of the agreement.
5. The Attached agreement has not been executed by the School Board of Broward County. They are considering this agreement on their July 21 agenda.
