MOTION TO APPROVE ENTERING INTO AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES/SOUTHWEST FOCAL POINT SENIOR CENTER AND AREAWIDE COUNCIL ON AGING OF BROWARD COUNTY, INC. TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EHEAP) CARES ACT. THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF THE AGREEMENT IS $18,986.75.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. The primary purpose of the EHEAP Care Act Program is to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus; including assisting low-income households with at least one member aged sixty (60) or older experiencing a heating or cooling emergency. Eligible households may receive multiple crisis assistance benefits that combined not to exceed $2,000 during the term of this agreement.
2. Clients eligible for services under this contract must be: 60 years of age or older, reside in the EHEAP Cares Act service area (Broward County) at the time the home energy costs were incurred, complete and return and EHEAP Cares Act application with all required information. Stimulus payments from the federal government in relation to the Coronavirus Disease will not be considered income and will not be considered in determining a household's Federal Poverty Level.
3. Total funds received will be distributed as follows:

$ 2,583.87 Outreach Costs
$ 1,760.85 Administrative Costs
$18,986.75 Total Contract
