Summary Explanation and Background

 

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

 

The Addendum is pending review with the BTU regarding wages for the 2020-21 school year as required by House Bill (HB641).  The Addendum would increase teacher salaries to a minimum of $47,500.00 per year and would be mostly funded by the HB641 revenue allocation from the State.  Any current teacher who earns $47,500.00 or above would receive a salary increase of $1,619.63.  The Addendum along with the Teacher Salary Increase Plan must be submitted to the State by November 5, 2020 or the City may not receive the funds, thus the teachers would not be able to have such an increase.  We anticipate providing an Addendum along with the Teacher Salary Increase Plan prior to the upcoming Commission Meeting on November 4, 2020.

 

 

 

Financial Impact

FINANCIAL IMPACT DETAIL:

 

a)   Initial Cost: $190,000 from the current Charter School Reserves plus $1,042,000 in additional funds provided under HB641 from the State.
