MOTION TO APPROVE THE SCHOOL BOARD OF BROWARD COUNTY KNOX BOX AGREEMENT

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. The Pembroke Pines Police Department along with the School Board of Broward County have identified the value of making facility keys at public school campuses readily accessible to all first responders. The keys are to be utilized in the event of a critical incident, and only provide access to School Board of Broward County facilities located within Pembroke Pines.
2. In order to facilitate the accessibility of facility keys, Knox Boxes will be installed on the exterior wall of the individual School Board of Broward County facilities. Inside of the Knox Boxes, 5 sets of facility keys will be secured.
3. The School Board of Broward County has agreed to modify existing Knox Boxes to ensure access by both police and fire personnel, but with unique keys for each department. The School Board of Broward County has agreed to supply keys for the Knox Boxes.
4. This agreement has been reviewed and approved by the Police Legal Advisor.
