PROPOSED RESOLUTION 2020-R-53 IS A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE 2020-2023 CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES/SOUTHWEST FOCAL POINT SENIOR CENTER COMMUNITY SHUTTLE OPERATIONS, TITLE VI PROGRAM PURSUANT TO FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION REQUIREMENTS; DIRECTING THE APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO TAKE ANY AND ALL ACTION NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE INTENT OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, PROVIDING THE SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

 

Summary Explanation and Background

 

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

 

1.  On December 2, 2015 the City adopted Resolution NO.3477 approving revision to the 2013-2016 FTA Title VI Program Guidelines.  The guidelines were reviewed and updated on October 2018 with Resolution NO.3624.  The guidelines have been updated and approved by the Florida Department of Transportation.

 

2.  The City of Pembroke Pines/Southwest Focal Point Senior Center has an agreement with the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Broward County to provide Senior Transportation and fixed route transportation services.  The City also utilizes fund for the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to assist in the operation on Senior Transportation and fixed route transportation services.

 

3.  The City as a sub-recipient of FTA funds is required to adopt FTA Title VI Program Guidelines every three (3) years.

 

4.  Requesting City Commission to approve the submission of Title VI.
