MOTION TO APPROVE THE FSU/PEMBROKE PINES CHARTER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL’S 2021-2026 PAEC AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER K-12 ENDORSEMENT PLAN, THE 2021-2026 PAEC FLORIDA GIFTED ADD-ON ENDORSEMENT PLAN, AND THE PEMBROKE PINES CHARTER SCHOOL SYSTEM’S 2020-2021 SCHOOL WELLNESS POLICY.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND
1. As part of the Charter Schools' yearly audit, evidence must be provided of the governing board's (i.e. City Commission) approval of parent, staff, and student handbooks, discipline guides, dress codes, wellness policy,school improvement plans, and PAEC program endorsement plans.
2. The Florida State University/ Pembroke Pines Charter Elementary School participates in the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Endorsement Program and the Florida Gifted Endorsement Program through the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium (PAEC.) Both endorsement plans are designed to increase the level of knowledge, expertise and understanding of educators working with K-12 students diagnosed with ASD and students who are gifted. All PAEC endorsement plans must be approved by the Governing Board annually.
3. The following Florida State University/ Pembroke Pines Charter Elementary School plans are presented to commission for approval:
a) 2021-2026 PAEC Autism Spectrum Disorder K-12 Endorsement Plan for the Pembroke Pines-Florida State University Charter Elementary School (See Exhibit 1. ASD Add-On Endorsement Plan 2021-2026).
b) 2021-2026 PAEC Florida Gifted Add-On Endorsement Plan for the Pembroke Pines-Florida State University Charter Elementary School (See Exhibit 3. Gifted Add-On Endorsement Plan 2021-2026).
4. Furthermore, the Pembroke Pines Charter Schools (PPCS) are committed to providing the students of the schools with healthy choices, promotion of wellness activities, and physical activities that promote the well-being of the children enrolled.
