PROPOSED RESOLUTION IS A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE A SPECIAL MAGISTRATE SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH ALAN L. GABRIEL, ESQ., TO PROVIDE CODE ENFORCEMENT SPECIAL MAGISTRATE SERVICES ON A ROTATIONAL BASIS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR VALIDITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. The Code Compliance Unit utilizes a Special Master (Magistrate) to adjudicate Code Compliance cases.
2. The Code Compliance Unit desires to contract with Alan L. Gabriel, Esq. to perform Special Magistrate services for the City.
3. Mr. Gabriel is employed by the law firm of Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, P.L.
4. The City of Pembroke Pines has the option, as client, to retain Mr. Gabriel's services as Special Magistrate.
5. The City Attorney's Office recommends retaining Mr. Gabriel's services as Special Magistrate, based on Mr. Gabriel's competency & professionalism.
