PROPOSED RESOLUTION 2021-R-51 IS A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES APPROVING THE REMOVAL OF THE PEMBROKE ROAD WIDENING PROJECT AT SW 160TH AVENUE TO SW 184TH AVENUE FROM THE BROWARD METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION’S (MPO) COMMITMENT 2045 METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION PLAN (MTP); DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE MPO; AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO TAKE ANY AND ALL ACTION NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE INTENT OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Summary Explanation and Background
SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (“MPO”) identified funding for the Pembroke Road Widening Project (“Project”) at SW 160th Avenue to SW 184th Avenue in the Commitment 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (“MTP”) Roadway Plan (MTP ID# 43).
2. The City of Pembroke Pines included the Pembroke Road widening project as a municipal request for the Broward County Transportation Surtax and the project has been funded.
3. The City of Pembroke Pines, Broward County, Florida Department of Transportation (“FDOT”), and the MPO met on October 10, 2019 and agreed to pursue funding for this project through the Broward County Transportation Surtax Mobility Advancement Program (“MAP”) and remove the project from the Broward MPO 2045 MTP Roadway Plan once surtax funding was identified (Exhibit A).
