PROPOSED ORDINANCE 2021-26 IS AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PEMBROKE PINES, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 30 OF THE CITY’S CODE OF ORDINANCES, ENTITLED “MEETINGS;” BY SPECIFICALLY AMENDING SECTION 30.15, ENTITLED “AGENDA;” ESTABLISHING A CATEGORY ENTITLED “COMMISSION AUDITOR REPORT” ON THE AGENDA FOR EACH REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COMMISSION; PROVIDING FOR REPORTS BY THE COMMISSION AUDITOR; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Summary Explanation and Background
SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:
1. On November 3, 2021, Commissioner Schwartz introduced an item for discussion and possible action to provide full transparency and disclosure to the public pertaining to the Commission Auditor, to have the Commission Auditor present any and all commission approved projects to be placed on the regular meeting agenda. Discussion and possible action to create a new category on the regular meeting agenda to be titled "Commission Auditor Reports." The items shall be placed after the title items at the request of the public on all regular meeting agendas. Funding to have the commission auditor present at all regular commission meetings for the purposes of presentation under the agenda title via Webex shall begin fiscal year 2021/22 not to exceed $5,000.00 from the current approved budget.
2. The City Commission desires to amend the City Code of Ordinances §30.15, entitled “Agenda”, to establish a new category on the agenda for each regular meeting of the City Commission, entitled “Commission Auditor Report”, following the agenda category entitled “Items at the Request of the Public”;
3. The new category entitled “Commission Auditor Report” on the agenda for each regular meeting of the City Commission shall be reserved for reports by the Commission Auditor consisting of financial matters of importance and oth...
