Summary Explanation and Background

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:


1. The vacancy was advertised as required by the City Code of Ordinances.

2. Ms. Jordan submitted an application to serve on the Art & Culture Board.

3. There are currently two regular vacancies and two alternate vacancies on the Art & Culture Board. The appointment of Mr. Garzon on May 18, 2022 filled one regular member seat, leaving one regular seat and two alternate seats vacant. The Regular member seat would be for a two-year term expiring in 2024.

4. Request Commission appoint Ms. Jordan as a regular member for a two-year period or direct the City Clerk to continue advertising the vacancy.



§ 32.133 COMPOSITION; APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS.
(A) The Arts and Culture Advisory Board shall consist of seven permanent members who shall be voting members and two alternate members. Alternate members shall be permitted to vote in the absence of permanent members provided that no more than seven members vote on any action being considered by the Board. Five members of the Board shall be selected and appointed in accordance with § 32.004. Two additional voting members appointed by the City Commission and two alternates shall be appointed by the Mayor. The two members appointed by the City Commission shall serve a two-year term.
(B) The Arts and Culture Advisory Board may, at its option, appoint non-voting members of the Board to serve as “Friends of the Arts and Culture Advisory Board.”
(C) The City Manager, or his/her designee, and the Director of the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, or his/her designee, shall serve as ex officio, non-voting members and shall remain as permanent members of the Board.
