Title

MAYOR CASTILLO - ITEM NO.1: DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON APPROVING THE SW 54 PLACE SPEED HUMP WAIVER REQUEST TO ALLOW SPEED HUMP INSTALLATION.

Summary Explanation and Background

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

1. Residents on the SW 54 Place submitted an application for additional speed humps. They obtained the required number of signatures of 51% or over. The streets do not meet all the eligibility requirements.

2. Speed humps are to be placed only on straight-line sections of the road with a minimum length of one thousand feet (1000’),and which is without any other traffic-calming device and spaced a minimum of five hundred feet (500’) apart and at least two hundred feet (200’) away from intersections. I am requesting that the 1000 foot length without other traffic-calming devices, 500 foot between humps and 250 foot from intersection rules, and the associated studies be waived in order to expedite installation of these resident requested speed humps. The City Engineer has preliminarily sited the speed humps.
