Summary Explanation and Background

SUMMARY EXPLANATION AND BACKGROUND:

1.  The Technology Services Department would like to replace the existing NetApp storage system at the Pembroke Pines Charter Schools.  The current NetApp storage system supporting all the Charter School campuses will be end of life (EOL) at the end of this year, and will no longer be supported by vendor.  The new NetApp storage system will also provide much needed additional storage capacity for future growth and projects like VDI (Virtual Desktop).  

2.  The NetApp storage system provides centralized data storage to all City workstations, mobile devices and applications for public safety, utilities and other key departments through the existing City-wide fiber optic network.  The NetApp storage system provides a collection of high performance disk drives that are organized into a single fault-tolerant and redundant system that can be logically partitioned and managed. Servers and workstations connect to this storage system through high-speed network interfaces. Logical drives are created on the NetApp and function as local disk drives to the City servers and workstations. This approach is commonly used in nearly all data centers to increase flexibility, improve performance and reliability while lowering costs and increasing efficiency.

3.  The State of Florida contract has numerous vendors that can be utilized for various products and services.

4.  The Technology Services Department has identified and selected Presidio Networked Solutions, Inc. as the provider on the State Contract.
